Advisory Committee
The GCRC Advisory Committee members are appointed by Dean Levey on a limited term basis. This committee meets monthly and is chaired by a senior clinical faculty member. The Committee supervises and reviews GCRC operations, delineates common needs of center investigators, establishes admissions policies, sets general policies and procedures under the NIH. The committee periodically reviews center operations to ensure that GCRC resources are used for the most scientifically worthy projects. This committee encourages junior faculty members to perform clinical research and assists them in applying its concepts and methods.
The committee also evaluates proposals based upon scientific merit and need for resources. This committee prioritizes approved research projects using these two factors in order to assist the director in allocating resources. The committee is responsible for the designation of the category of inpatient days and outpatient visits for each research project proposed to the center as category A, B, or D, including the classification of research sponsored by industry. For industry-sponsored research, the committee reviews copies of the official signed research agreement between the investigator and industry, the itemized budget, and other relevant correspondence for appropriate categorization of patients.
